12% was the immediate cost of living amount requested on behalf of the AMC pilot union prior to negotiations. It was supposed to have been replied to within 10 days but someone appears to have missed the memo. Lots of talk from the upper part of the food chain about No surprises act and Inflationary headwinds seem to foreshadow a lowball offer when the contract ends in August and a drawn out negotiating process. Starting salaries at other companies are higher than AMC, starting range at AMC is aprrox. 70500 to 72500 although that can be bumped up by a stipend that varies from base to base. Supposedly there are new hires negotiating their own"experience bonuses" , so your mileage may vary.

For whatever altruistic reasons they put forward for mass consumption, the truth is that every company is out for a profit and the 2 largest ones are owned by private equity firms whose sole mission is to squeeze money out for the investors. Everyone knows helicopter pilots have been underpaid for decades and the current employment cilmate in the United states shows the disparity in a glaring light. Walmart and Target now offer Bachelor degrees to their workers and starting pay for a teen with no real work experience can be near 17/hr.

The next time you fly into that crappy LZ at 3 am think about the fact that you are a number in a corporate machine and nothing more, stand up for yourselves and demand better because the people holding the purse strings are not interested in helping you out.
